Ben studied catering at Huddersfield Polytechnic before leaving England to seek his fortune. Living in Hong Kong, he didn’t find his fortune but did win the Lantau Island Mud Olympics which did, in a roundabout way, fund his first business venture. After living and working in California, he moved back to England to set up the successful Boston Tea Party chain of coffee shops, which he ran for 10 years. The opportunity to lease the site of Tea on the Green was too tempting to turn down. “Just like my previous business adventure, Tea on the Green is built on the principles of buying locally and ethically, recycling all we can, and growing the business through the brilliant ideas and hard work of everyone who works here”.

Luke started out his hospitality experience in the bustling bar scene of Bristol. He enjoyed the lifestyle and music scene that came with the bar industry, he managed late night pool lounges, whiskey bars and music venues.
After meeting his then to be future wife, her job brought them down to Devon in the summer of 2011. For a brief time Luke started working at the now burnt down royal Clarence, where a chance meeting with Ben (after an eventful day at then hotel) lead Luke to join Tea on the Green in October the same year.
